Artist Statement

The artist’s expression is born out of his / her spirituality.  I feel the continuing development of both is interdependent.  I produce material work which constitutes evidence of this process for myself.  I facilitate the arts experience for others to enhance their skills at exploring this path.  Societal development flows from such endeavors shared.

Media

Current personal media includes fibers: shibori (textile resist dying), katazomi (rice paste resist surface design on cloth) printing and painting on silk, and weaving; terra cotta figure sculpture and polymer clay; organic mixed (eg: crop art) labyrinth design and installation and garment design.

Art Education, BS Illinois State University, minor - Home Economics, emphasis in garment and interior design; MA Governors State University, Thesis: Drapo  Textile Icons of Vodun

Media based classes are available in weaving, shibori, katazomi, terra cotta and various textile apparel construction and fitting skills. Currently, this is on a “by request” basis.
